Plans for Tesco in Sheringham have been submitted to the council

After careful work since our exhibition, I’m delighted to let you know we have submitted new plans for a Tesco to North Norfolk Council. You can find out more at

Sheringham Tesco PlansI have been really encouraged by the 1,500 people that have got in contact to say they would like a Tesco. If you are in favour, now is the time to have your say – it is vital that the council and politicians hear from you before they make a final decision.

Make your voice heard:

If you can do one thing, please write to the council.

This is the most important action you can take and will prove how much support there is.

Please contact the council – email or write to Planning Section, North Norfolk District Council, Council Offices, Holt Road, Cromer, NR27 9EN, quoting reference PLA/20090818.   You also need to explain your views and provide some contact details.
If approved, the store will bring:

  • The good quality food shopping and money saving value you leave town to find at the moment
  • A store close to Station Road, attracting visitors to local shops
  • Around 150 jobs (full and part time)
  • A new fire station and community centre.

Anyone that would like to do more could contact their councillors and write to the local papers (details below). You can find out more and see the views of local supporters at

Sainsbury’s is planning a small walk-in store and there are proposals for an out of town Green House Country Store. I hope you agree Sheringham needs the decent size supermarket we’re proposing, to provide the choice of shopping people currently leave town to find. Building on the outskirts will not bring people to the town centre.

Thank you again – your views will make a difference.
Yours sincerely, Nick Gellatly
