Sheringham Primary to help develop future school leaders

Local MP Norman Lamb has welcomed the news that Sheringham Primary School has been awarded National Teaching School status.

Teaching School status is awarded to outstanding schools with a strong track record of developing leadership and working together with other schools. Teaching Schools, supported by the National College for School Leadership, will play a key role working with other schools, managing training and helping to develop future leaders across a network of schools.

Commenting, North Norfolk MP Norman Lamb said:
“This is fantastic news and very well deserved. My congratulations to headteacher Dominic Cragoe and to all at Sheringham Primary.

“This is a tremendous recognition of a very fine school. I am really delighted that Sheringham Primary will become a National Teaching School and look forward to visiting once it is established to see the work they will be doing.

Shoppers treated to Sports Relief spectacle

Residents of North Walsham out doing their weekly shop were greeted with an unusual sight on Saturday morning, as Norman Lamb joined staff from Sainsbury’s and local sports and leisure centre Rossis Leisure in the Sports Relief Rowing Challenge.

Two rowing machines were set up outside the Bacton Road store and the teams battled it out over the course of two days. It is hoped that the total raised will top 3000.

“This was good fun for a very worthy cause.

“It is great to see local businesses getting involved in this way, and the challenge certainly surprised a few shoppers! Thanks to everyone involved and to all those that made donations.”

Rob Wilkinson, Store Manager at Sainsbury’s North Walsham, said:

“It was great that Norman Lamb MP was able to show his support for the colleagues here for Sports Relief. The whole day was great fun for customers and colleagues alike. We are hoping to raise over 3,000, something that will make a real difference to those in need both home and abroad.”
