Santa set to get help delivering Christmas cheer in Sheringham

In a bid to raise funds for the revamp of Sheringham Park, a local Christmas card collection and delivery service covering Sheringham, Beeston and West Runton is being run by the Sheringham Playpark Revamp Group,

The group plan to replace all of the present equipment at the park, some believed to be 35 years old, with a play area aimed at all age ranges to include a new sandpit, shelters, play roundabout, gym equipment, and picnic area with shrubs and bushes.

The Christmas card service starts on December 3 with the last deliveries on December 23. There will be collection points, for people to drop off their cards to be delivered, at Blyth and Wright and Bertram A Watts bookshop in Sheringham and the Mace store in Beeston.

Rebecaa Burrows from the group, said: “So far overall we have raised 1,900 for the revamp. We had a Halloween party on Saturday night which raised 300, it was a really good turn out. We are also planning a Christmas party in December.”

The group are also running a Christmas card competition, with the winners announced later this week. A prize will be awarded for the best card in each of the three categories and the winning designs will be printed and sold to raise funds for the project.

Anyone wishing to volunteer to help deliver the Christmas cards should contact 01263 823133.
