Sheringham Carnival 2017 – Quizzes Competitions and 60-40 Raffle
Another great Carnival Week in Sheringham culminating with the announcement of all the competitions and quizzes that took place during the week and the exceptional fireworks display on Sunday evening carried out by who organised the fireworks for the 2012 London Olympics and also the New Year celebrations in London.
A great deal of time and effort has been put in by many people to make these quizzes happen so a big round of applause to them and an even bigger one to the sponsors without whom there would be nothing to win!
The winners of the Carnival quizzes were drawn on Sunday evening by Carnival Queen, Abbi Dowsett-Olby and her Attendants, Tasha Grand and Chloe Hambling and were as follows:
Anagrams – sponsored by Roger Lee, Optometrist – won by Cauis Law
Answers to all the quizzes can be found on our website – www.sheringhamcarnival.com. They will be uploaded after 13th August as our upload person is on holiday! We thank you for your patience!
Lastly, grateful thanks to Chris Dolby who announced all the results, on the microphone!
The Innovative 60-40 Raffle was also drawn on the Sunday Evening and the winners announced.
This has turned out to be a successful and enjoyable raffle. Twelve charities/organisations took part and took on the task of selling raffle tickets to raise funds for their organisation. In addition, carnival volunteers also sold raffle tickets for any of the organisations that the public wanted to donate to.
The total altogether raised £3069! A massive thank you to everyone who
bought a raffle ticket, or two!!
1 East Anglian Children’s Hospice 60% to the organisation (£51.60) and 40%
(34.40) to the winner – Mr Paul Jolly
This makes a total of £3,069 in ticket sales with organisations receiving
£1,841.40 (plus a donation of £50 from prize money – total £1,891.40) and
12, very lucky people receiving between them a total of £1,227.60.
Thanks to all the organisations who took part and made it possible for Sheringham Carnival to facilitate our commitment of donating to local organisations and charities.
The twelve draws took place on Sunday 6th August, just before the Torchlight Procession to the Leas for a magnificent firework display (produced by Titanium Fireworks, who organise the fireworks for London on New Year’s Eve!) and each winning ticket was pulled from a bucket by the Sheringham Carnival Queen, Abbi and her Attendants, Tasha and Chloe.
Finally and by no means least was the Presentation of the Chairman’s Cup to Hilary Nelson (last year’s winner) for services rendered to our town of Sheringham, not just in carnival week but all through the year. Hilary was also presented with a magnificent arrangement of flowers from Sheringham’s Florist, Blooming Blooms.
