SHERINGHAM CARNIVAL

Its time for the Sheringham Carnival again, after months of planning every thing is now in place for what we hope will be a very successful nine days. Here is a taster of some of the 76 events that you can look forward to from Saturday 2nd August to Sunday 10th August.

Saturday 2nd August sees the start of The Carnival with displays by the Newfoundland Rescue Dogs, Junior Five-a-side Football during the day and an evening Bug Hunt for children.

One of the major events is on Sunday 3rd August with the Crowning of the Carnival Queen by Wally and Sheri Webb of BBC Radio Norfolk. The day is full of events on the Lees at Sheringham including a display of Medieval Longbows and the ever popular Bonny Baby Competition.

Monday is our sports day with your chance to take part in a Golf Competition, Tag Rugby and Cricket, don't forget to bring your spade for the Sandcastle Competition. This is followed on Tuesday with a variety of Children's Activities, a Strongman Competition, a Ramble and finally a Street Party.

Our really big day is Wednesday 6th August, with events throughout the day in the town. These include a Talent show, a demonstration by "East Coast Militia, children's Chalk a Picture and eventually the" Grand Carnival Parade" starting at 6.30pm. There is a Park & Ride from Sheringham High School to make your journey here much easier.

Thursday centres on a Medieval Theme, with displays and opportunities for you to participate in. Come and join the Fancy Dress Beach Clean, a Ramble and visit the Shantymen Concert in the evening.

Friday continues with the Sheringham Youth Cricket Festival, plenty of Children's entertainment, the Aquackic Duck Race, Prize Presentations and a Beach Party.

Saturday is our Superstars Day, Bowls competition and the Cromer & Sheringham Brass Band Concert in the evening.

The Grand Finale is on Sunday 10th August, and includes the Classic Car Festival, Children's Boat Competition and finally The Illuminated Procession to the Grand Firework Display.

So here you have a quick run down of what is on offer, full details are in our Carnival Programme which in on sale throughout the town, we ask for a contribution for this as it is expensive to produce. On this note our bucket collectors will be out during the Carnival Parade (which is your event). Please give generously to our collectors as your support is vital to enable The Carnival to make donations to local charities. The recipients from last years donations can be found on page 47 of this years programme.
