News from Sheringham Woodfields School
In September, Sheringham Woodfields School, will have grown to meet the
educational individual needs of 90 students, aged 2-19, with complex learning
difficulties. On July 4th 2008, we celebrated our 5th Birthday with lots of events
taking place throughout the day. Staff and students, past and present, families and
community visitors saw performances of "Jackass Blues" by our talented 6th form,
"Grease" by the Dance and Drama Club, "Holidays" by Foundation and Key
Stage 1 and lots more.

From 7th-11th July, 10 fearless members of Key Stages 4 & 5, along with 4 support
staff, spent a week at an Outdoor Activity Centre in Wensleydale, Yorkshire. Activities
included; archery, zip-wiring, abseiling, gorge walking, climbing and canoeing. Everyone
found something to challenge them and had a truly wonderful time. Many thanks go to
Coredale & Abbs of Bodham and Mundesley, who sponsored the transport costs of this
trip. Without their help, the school would have had the additional substantial fuel costs.

We are currently in the process of trying to raise £15,500
towards our own minibus. As our curriculum takes us more into the community, a minibus
will allow us more flexibility in our extended outside learning and residential trips. To
date we've raised over £5,000.
Frank Butt, one of our 6th Form students, has raised over £1000 by doing
a sponsored gym challenge of 125 steps on the treadmill. This was a particularly
challenging exercise for Frank, with the money raised going towards our "Minibus
Appeal".
At 2pm on Sunday 21st September, Corpusty Football Club has challenged Woodfields to a
"Charity Football Match". The event will take place on the Jubilee Field,
Edgefield near Holt, with the Corpusty Team promising to wear fancy dress! There will be a
raffle, tombola, bran tub, beat the goalkeeper, crossbar challenge, bar and refreshments.
Why not come along and join us for an afternoon of fun. There will also be a special
appearance by Nigel Worthington, manager of Northern Ireland and ex-manager of Norwich
City Football Clubs.
Thank you for all your continued support in making Sheringham Woodfields School a happy
place to learn.
