Yes, it's that time of year already, time to select the 2003 Carnival Queen. Last year it
was Serena Newland who was crowned by actor Graham Cole better known as PC Stamp of The
Bill. Graham is back this year by popular demand to crown the 2003 Carnival Queen on
Sunday 3rd August. Over the next few weeks, nomination forms will be in the North Norfolk
News and at the Whistlestop. The deadline for entries is 17April and votes for your
favourite in by 19 May. The winners will be announced at the grand Carnival Queen Dance on
27 May at The Sheringham Social Club where The Floating Greyhounds will be playing.
Entrants must be 16 years old by 17 April and live within a three mile radius of
Sheringham Town Clock. Organisers will check with nominees that they are happy to take
part and will be available for the events they would be expected to attend.
Professional photographs of the nominees will be taken by
Cliff Morris of the Whistlestop.
This year the Carnival promises to be bigger and better than ever, many of the local
businesses are already supporting it and the committee is working hard. There will be many
old favourites returning and lots of new ideas are being organised. All it needs to ensure
success is for the Sheringham Community Spirit to rise once more and get behind it.
Volunteers are needed and even if all you can commit is a couple of hours then we need
you! No experience necessary!
