ADSL BROADBAND

It looks like it could be years before Sheringham receives Broadband. In a letter to Norman Lamb MP, the BT Group stated that they had lowered the threshold levels previously set. The North Walsham exchange to 350 user registrations and the Fakenham exchange also to 350. Sounds good doesn't it? Unfortunately, as at 10 February 2003, 196 had registered at North Walsham and only 71 at Fakenham. As we know, North Walsham is now going to get it, but what about Sheringham? BT's Chairman, recently told industry analysts that broadband rollout may not be achievable (to sparsely populated areas) for the next 10 - 20 years.

Small businesses in North Norfolk should not have to lag behind large cities in technology, BT really needs to sort out its services to the smaller communitys like Sheringham to ensure that our businesses are not the poor relations of the business world - again! Various Contributors
