Sheringham Little Theatre Summer Season
A new and exciting programme of comedy and drama is scheduled for this year's summer repertory season at Sheringham's Little Theatre.
Sheringham Community Paper In conjunction with a recent 'twinning' arrangement with Frinton Summer Theatre, it will run from July to September and include no less than eight productions, These will range from comedy greats such as the classic farce 'Run for Your Wife' to tense thrillers such as 'Shock'. Seymour Matthews, who is a regular actor at the Royal National Theatre, and his wife Nicky Matthews, herself part of the Watling Theatrical dynasty have created two companies of actors over the last few weeks. They attended Showcases in London and Drama Schools to select talented and versatile people and have now completely cast the Sheringham Company, they are a nice mix of experienced actors and new students, all of whom were Seymour and Nicky's first choice. With weekly rep, you get very exciting performances as all cast members work under the pressure of four days of rehearsals, one technical rehearsal and then the live performances.
Most other types of show involve weeks of preparation before going onto stage. Young actors straight out of drama school grow very quickly in this environment and repertory theatre has traditionally offered a vital and invaluable training ground for young actors and is very rare nowadays. Stars such as Vanessa Redgrave and Linda Bellingham spent some of their early years under the guidance of the likes of the late Jack Watling. Seymour and Nicky Matthews have an excellent reputation for their work with Frinton Summer Theatre and with the companys swapping over halfway through the season, Sheringham will get the best of both worlds. In coming issues we will let you know details of what is coming up next, be sure to book your tickets early! This Summer Season is going to be fantastic.
