The Poppy People Campaign was launched nationally in
London at the beginning of July and the purpose of the campaign is to recruit more
volunteers to assist as Organisers and/or Collectors for the Poppy Appeal. Norfolk's
County launch took place on 31st July at the North Norfolk Railway in Sheringham. It was a
lovely sunny day and several local branch members turned up to help promote the campaign.
Donning their bright yellow t-shirts and carrying large poppies, these volunteers 'rode
the trains' handing out leaflets and telling the passengers all about The Royal British
Legion and why the collections are so necessary. |

To be a Poppy Person, you don't need any special skills or
qualifications; you don't even need to be a member of the Legion. All you need is the will
and desire to help and the time. In as little as 2 hours you may be able to collect as
much as £50, which could help the Legion stay on duty round the clock, answering calls to
our helpline, making home and hospital visits to veterans and fighting to ensure that
ex-Service men and women get the treatment that they deserve. Let's not forget why the
Poppy Appeal is so important. It's about remembrance and recognition. It's about honouring
the countless men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for us and it's about
helping the thousands of ex-Service people who need our help today. Over 300,000
ex-Service people call on the Legion for help each year. The Poppy Appeal needs to keep on
growing and for that we need more Poppy People, so join us today and help keep the Poppy
alive in this area. For more information call 0800 085 5924 or
visit www.poppy.org.uk or www.sheringhamrbl.co.uk, our own
branch site.
