To the Editor @ Sheringham
The six words may Your God go with You very aptly chosen to close
Vics contribution to @ Sheringham (Friday 26 November) went a long way to counter
the long diatribe in the letter in the same issue against religion. The writer had
obviously been totally indoctrinated against religion in a (quite correct) effort to
encourage the achievement of potential in this life instead of encouragement of acceptance
of ones lot in this life whilst waiting for appropriate
reward in the next. However, everyone can see we are now reaping the
results of the baby being thrown out with the bathwater. The effects of young
people being expected to work out in their own minds what is right and what is wrong
without being told are obvious all over the country today. Yes there have been wars etc.
using religion as the excuse, but religions actually provide a framework for behaviour if
correctly interpreted from the teaching of the original founders, with these often being
very similar. Thank you Vic. |
