Your fortnightly recipe to
tantalise your taste buds
BARBECUE MEAT ROLL
2lb/1kg minced beef
2 large eggs
4oz/100g fresh white breadcrumbs
1level tablespoon tomato ketchup
1oz/25g brown sugar.
1 level teaspoon made mustard.
Salt and pepper to taste.
Put the meat in a large bowl. Break in the eggs and add the breadcrumbs, plenty of salt
and pepper, the tomato ketchup, sugar and mustard. Mix well. Form the meat into a roll on
a work surface, rolling it backwards and forwards to get a good shape. Put the roll on the
hottest part of the barbecue and turn it over and over to sear the outside, then roll it
to a cooler part of the grid and continue to cook it, turning it frequently until it is
cooked through. The roll will take approximately 1 hour to cook, but it could cook more
quickly or slowly depending on the heat of your barbecue. Because the ends of the roll
will cook more quickly than the middle, rounds can be sliced off as they cook. Serve
hamburger styles in a soft roll or sliced with jacket potatoes.
SHERINGHAM & CROMER ROUND TABLE
Sheringham & Cromer the current Area Round Table sporting champions
began the defence of there title at 5-A-Side football tournament hosted by Dereham Round
Sheringham & Cromer started the tournament very slowly and although never in danger of
losing their initial group match against Kings Lynn Vancover constantly gave the ball away
as the game looked to be heading for a 0-0 draw. However a last minute tap in from Steven
Lond-Caulk following good work from Fisher & Murchison provided an opening group match
An improved performance in the second group match followed which produced a comfortable
3-0 victory against a combined Thetford/Harleston team. This put Sheringham & Cromer
though to the semi final against Beccles who in there group had held pre tournament
favourites Hunstanton to 0-0 draw. Despite some cavalier defending Sheringham & Cromer
rode there luck a little but in the end ran out much deserved 2-0 winners.
The final against Hunstanton proved to be a very tough affair. Sheringham & Cromer
found it difficult to get out of there own half and only disciplined defending and some
fine saves from Andy Johnson kept the score line blank. However the defending champions
did produce the move of the match but unfortunately Smith failed to convert. The final
whistle was greeted with relief by very tired Sheringham & Cromer Tablers who held on
for a 0-0 draw. A penalty shoot out followed, Lond-Caulk, Smith and Murchison all
converted there spot kicks as did their Hunstanton counterparts. Andy Johnson used his big
frame to save the final Hunstanton penalty so it was left to Fisher to see if he could
convert his for victory. His powerfully struck shot hit the underside of the bar and to
his relief then went into the net. A triumphant Sheringham & Cromer Round Table
celebrated despite being well aware the second best team in the final had prevailed.
Sheringham & Cromer Round Table members will be preparing for a Dragon Boat Race
competition later this month in aid of the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust, at the Cromer
