Sheringham Community Paper

The Warriors legue season has ended, with a well-deserved fourth place.   The League Cup is still being played and so far we have knocked out the league winners, North Walsham Town "A", 3-2 after extra time; Acle Youth, who beat us 1-0 in a bizarre game near the end of the season, but we deservedly beat them 5-0 to advance to the semi-finals.  We beat Holt United 6-0 just a few weeks ago in the league, but they presented a harder challenge in the league cup semi-final and were 2-0 up until Cameron Humphrey, followed by Jodi Norris and Shane Cox, thumped in three great goals to clinch victory.  We played Old Catton Juniors "A" in the final on April 30, and the result and a match report will appear in the next issue.  The fund raising for the Holland tour has come to an end.  Although fraught with difficulties, most of our targets were met and we leave on May 26 for Holland, with the majority of the boys and quite a few others, to play a one-day tournament and another full game.  The experience will be great for the boys, and I'm sure the parents will also enjoy it.   This last season has been a strange one for us, with our split from the parent group of teams, which, it was felt, was getting too big to handle.  Whatever happens now, we will be back next season, with, I hope, a stronger and more challenging side not forgetting a new name.
